Cheese Ball

Grant was in a mood last week before TKD, almost convincing me to keep him out due to a toe injury, but I made him endure and practice anyway.

This was the " I'm trying to get out of practice for a dumb
reason face"

Here he is waiting with me. Killing time being a total cheese ball.

I'll admit, there are very few dull moments with this little boy. He's a fireball full of energy and entertainment.
I love my sweet little wild boy!

Summertime

Grant and I have been enjoying the summer. Camp is going very well and he loves it, which gives me huge relief. They've been going to the library twice a week and his camp leader told me he's doing so well he's actually tutoring some of the other kids that are struggling to read.

Nothing in this world makes me happier than hearing that not only is he above where he needs to be, but he's taking time to recognize others struggles and trying to help them learn. I'm all teary just thinking of it. Grant has the kindest sole. And apparently, an excellent reading brain. I'm so proud.

Grant also no longer enjoys hugging me or giving me a kiss when I drop him off. This also makes me all teary.  On one hand I'm thrilled he's growing up, spreading his wings. On the other hand, I hate it. I miss our morning hugs and kisses. I can slowly see this independence creeping up on me and it's just awful.

We've been watching the Thunder games together (I make him go to bed at half and first thing the next morning he wants to know who won and what the score was). He loves KD and Westbrook. He shoots hoops on my bedroom door the entire first half, stopping to yell at the refs from time to time (I have no idea where he gets that from....).

He "Thundered" himself up with a highlighter.
Even had the colors correct. Notice he isn't wearing a
shirt? Yea, that's the new phase. No shirt when we're home.

Can you say spoiled?

So we went to see this yesterday.

Chris Rock was the voice of the Zebra.
Afro,circus, Afro,circus
We got to the theater way too early and Grant decided he needed a few things. We started at the Lego store where he got two new guys, followed by the Godiva store, where he indulged in some chocolate truffles, followed by a trip to Champs.

Champs. I haven't been there since I was in high school. Grant has been asking for Air Jordan's forever. I didn't think they still made them.

Apparently they've made a huge comeback and there are a million jillion pairs to choose from.

The price for those things also hasn't changed. I caved in and bought him a pair. He informed me he could immediately run faster.  He ran right out of the store. Literally.

These kind of look like them. Just no grey. He loves
them.

I'm behind

I'm behind in my posts. It's been a tough week. Grant woke up with Strep throat in the middle of the night last week. I took him to the doctor who was baffled because he didn't know how to treat Grant due to all of his allergies to antibiotics. We sat for an hour while Dr. Thompson called other docs and hospitals and finally infectious control doctor to see how to treat poor little sick Grant.

They came up with something absurd, which was to put him in the hospital for 10 days to "de-sensitize" Grant to Penicillin.

Umm, what? I panicked.

Then they decided to try some crazy drug that stunts bone growth in Beagles.

Umm, what again? I got sick to my stomach.

Finally, they tried a drug he hasn't been allergic to since he was a baby, good ole Clindamycin. And, it's working. And he's fine.

Meanwhile, my hot water tank went out at the same time.

I also hit my NEW car on my OWN garage and totally wrecked up the bumper. So, I've been grouchy and overwhelmed.

Today is a new and better day, and I decided to catch up the posts.

Grant started summer camp last week (well, for a few days, before he got sick). See:

First day of camp. I was so worried. He was not.
He had a blast.

We went to a wedding. Luke danced and danced. Grant sat in a chair and did not. (Just like his old Mom)

We went To Nene's and Mike's for Mike's birthday.

I'm looking forward to a better week!

The Newest "First Grader"

Last night Grant graduated Kindergarten and today was his last official day at the YMCA. Grant handed a rose to each one of his teachers he's known since he started school. Several of them teared up and gave him a big hug. It was a happy sad moment. While I'm sad to leave behind the comfortable and safe world of Kindergarten, I know it's time for the next chapter in Grant's life. He's very excited and so am I!

I have a few more videos that I captured on my phone (my camera ran out of storage right when the ceremony started) that I will try and upload when I can figure out how to get it to work.
