Cooking with Boys Who Wear Expensive Socks

SO, schools starts soon. Like really soon.  I was forward thinking and have gone through our needs and ordered approriate uniforms, etc. Upon receiving my order it was brought to my attention by Aidan that socks were needed.

Specific socks.

Nike Elite basketball socks. We aren't playing basketball right now, but whatever.

Okay, fine. Let's go get these socks.

Guess what? They are $15 for ONE pair. One. That's right. I'm used to $10 for 6 pairs. Not One.

Guess what else? Now Grant has to have them as well.

Wonderful.

Grant chose Pink and White ones....????

See that stuff on my floor? That's due to the cat, who I can truthfully
admit is crazy. He bites everything, chasing people all over the house
and plays with Walmart bags and paper towels and
drags them all over the house.

And, since Stephen has been at work, I have get to cook every night. The good news is.....

I've been doing well. The children are eating it and liking it, and more importantly, so is my husband. He EVEN took left overs to work for lunch, which means he wasn't just being nice like he normally is.

Monday I made Ree Drummond's (Pioneer Woman) Sour cream noodle bake. It sounds weird, but is great and it's super easy and fast to make. ***

Last night was Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp (also Ree's..just love her)

Tongith, however, is Chelino's night, so I'm off for a day.

***Since when did I become so lame and blog about cooking? Clearly I've gone over the edge.

And while I'm at it, here's some video of my husband....

On occasion we have dance parties at the house. Here's some rare footage of my husband. It's pretty funny.

Song Writing

The boys have been playing with their new Karaoke Machine and co-wrote a song about Gatorade last night. Of course, I video taped it.

A Little Bit of Peace

Last night was much more mellow than most nights. Maybe because I decided to not cook and only do bits and pieces of house cleaning. Aidan went with his Mom for dinner and Stephen was at work until 7ish, so it was just Grant, the cat, the dog and myself. I documented the night.

Griffendorf. The one split second he was still. I think
the cat is slightly nuts. He runs EVERYWHERE, climbs on
EVERYTHING and plays with the weirdest of objects, one
being Jack's tail. Another being my Peace Lily.

Jack. Resting after Griffendorf messed with him
for awhile. I think he was tired. Or pretending to be.

Grant. He was making an "Epic" bubble beard
he had to have me come watch.

Changes with Wild Boys

Our hosuehold is getting used to Stephen's new job. He is no longer working from home and is away all day.

Until after 7:00 every night.

I'm a little lost and a bit foggy. I forgot what it meant to have to do housework and laundry. And....cook.  Ughhh.

It's miserable. And exhausting.

The boys have gone bananas. Yesterday shopping at Buy For Less for a few gorceries was like boot camp. The boys were pigging back riding, running, hiding, trying to climb into the cart, trying to ride the cart, attempting to ask for EVERY SINGLE THING they saw.

I went in for chicken and veggies for dinner.

I came out without a chicken. I realized this as I was attempting to prepare dinner.

I was so tired last night I didn't even eat. I did manage to try and capture one little tiny photo of the boys being wild.

See. They're wild. Notice the blurry quality of the
photo? That's because they are constantly moving.
Noitce the lovely little stripes in the photo? Those
are my pajamas....at 6:30pm. Wow.

This and That

We spent the weekend mostly at the pool, until the rain set in, which was welcomed. We met Auntie Lauren and her friend, Aly,  from France (oh la la) at the pool and had a blast. James came with us and spent the day and night...I don't recall one weekend night where there wasn't at least one other child in our house. Between both boys, we are a busy little household when friends come over.

Aly fit right in with our family.

I got him to remove his mask. Look at the smile. Melts
my heart.

Teeth

Aidan had quite the dental appointment on Wednesday. He went in for a cleaning and came out with three fewer teeth. Dr. Randy was awesome and Aidan tolerated the procedure so well! He was a little groggy, but by the time he made it home and rested for a bit, he decided he wanted his lower baby tooth pulled as well that was loose. Craziness! The boy has some major courage. So Stephen tried to yank it with the old dental floss routine, but it was taking too long so I stepped in and pulled it out. Needless to say the tooth fairy left a little bit more under his pillow that night.
Stephen attempting to "floss" it out.

Brave and toothless Aidan

Of course Grant had to be in a picture. I promise,
the boy does wear shirts....sometimes....

And here's Kitty. Doing what Kitty does best when
not running through the house like lightening.

Fab Fourth!

The Fourth of July was great. We had the boys this year and had so much fun. Of course we went to the pool and then downtown for our annual picnic and fireworks.
The boys had numerous cannon ball contests.
I even did one. And a back dive! (Sort of, apparently
it wasn't as good as I thought it was)

The Devon Tower. Nicely lit up for the occa

I promise I wasn't squeezing him to pieces. It
was the flash. My sweet little energetic boy.
My love. Isn't he handsome?
The boys are playing soccer...way over there.

Time away

The boys have spent time all over the place lately. Friend's houses and other parent's. It seems when one is away the family is totally off balance, even when two or four friends come over to play. Grant comes home after spending 5 nights and six days away from home.

I hated every second of it. ***

But, am happy he was able to spend time with his brother, Parker. He spent lots of time swimming, golfing, going to the park and playing video games. He comes home tomorrow morning and I couldn't be happier!

Parker, Paul and Grant at the golf course.
Aidan spent some time with his Mom on Monday and was able to meet some of the Red Hawk players and get a few autographs. He came home excited to show me and then we cracked up when we couldn't read a word written. All he knew is one guy was French and some other guy wasn't. Funny!

***Well, maybe not every second. I did get to spend some
great alone time with my loving husband at the pool.
